“Thanks to this class my kids have gained confidence and have a renewed passion for making art. Stephanie has a wonderful way with kids and creates a warm, supportive, inclusive and playful environment while privileging process over product. Both my kids look forward to this class each week and have opted out of other in-person options because they just love it so much.”

WHAT IS THIS CLASS ABOUT?

This joyful, playful art class is all about imagination, laughter, and embracing the joy of the unexpected! Each week, young artists will:

  • Respond to quick, creative art prompts

  • Invent stories or silly ideas inspired by their creations

  • Share and laugh together in a low-pressure, supportive environment

There are no mistakes here — the focus is entirely on exploration and the fun of the process, not the final product. Finished artworks may not always be "refrigerator-worthy" - sometimes kids might not want to keep anything but the experience itself!

Shy students or students who might find it more challenging to make art for fear of mistakes tend to drop their guard and enjoy themselves thoroughly when the pressure to produce has been lifted.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CLASS?

I facilitate a supportive atmosphere where students can follow their own ideas freely!

  • We start with fun prompts to spark art-making - eg making a specific mark or shape, or cutting their paper a certain way

  • I use a document camera on my hands but sometimes turn it off during work time so students don’t feel pressured to copy copy me!

  • 20ish minutes of open work time and chatting

  • Optional sharing* time at the end (never forced!) - though this often happens organically throughout

*I understand some kids are more shy than others! I strive to create an environment where learners feel brave/comfortable enough to share when they feel ready.

WHY JOIN?

  • Build confidence and a growth mindset

  • Practice flexible thinking and creative problem-solving

  • Enjoy a supprotive space where kids feel free to experiment without fear
