Hi, I’m Stephanie!

Who am I, and why make stuff with me?
I was inspired to start this membership the first time I heard the parent one of my young students ask: “When are you doing these classes for US!???”
I realized she was right - connecting with creativity is far more effortless for kids. It’s time to give adults a chance to have that same kind of fun!
I find so much joy in my day-to-day - the different colors in a brick wall, finding faces in everything. When you devote time to art and creativity, you NOTICE more and interface differently with the world.
I don’t think this gift is exclusive to “artists” - I think we can all cultivate a more creative way of looking at the world, and I’d love to be your guide!
I’ve been working with kids and adults as a certified art teacher / teaching artist / museum educator for more than 25 years in a variety of settings, including many incredible places like:

How is The Uncreatives different from other online art memberships?
Other memberships teach art mastery, with the end goal of frameable art. That can feel pretty intimidating when you’re just getting back into the game.
But in The Uncreatives, there’s no right way to create - just YOUR way.
There are two tracks in The Uncreatives: art materials exploration, and Imagination Breaks.
Art materials exploration is for those who long to learn or get back to basics with different art media, in a low-pressure setting.
As the membership unfolds, we’ll devote chunks of time to exploring different types of art-making, including but not limited to watercolors, oil pastels, drawing materials, clay and simple bookmaking.
When I introduce different media, it’s in the spirit of how I teach my youngest students - fully exploring what different art materials can do. Can this introduction lead to further study? Absolutely! But this is back-to-basics with a focus on inquiry and curiosity - playing, learning what you enjoy.
In addition, or instead of, you can choose to partake in the weekly Imagination Breaks. These 30-minute classes, without technical instruction, offer creative prompts and simple art activities to spark thinking outside the box. These are primarily done with drawing or collage materials.
Come play, experiment, and reconnect with the creative voice that's been inside you all along!
