Come playfully explore your creativity through art-making - without pressure! - in this monthly membership for adults.

“Where were you when I was in 4th grade?”

-Adult student after her first class

Creativity feels good.

Remember when making art felt like this? It can again!

But there’s so much more to creativity than just making art.

What do you mean, you’re not creative?

Maybe you don’t feel that way - but you were born with a creative spark!

Many of us lose touch with that part of ourselves on the way to adulthood: maybe from a teacher's mean comment, self-doubt, or simply lack of time. But it's still there.

Do you want to get back to the childlike joy of making art - through curiosity and playful exploration?

Join the Uncreatives!

Reconnect with your creativity & imagination in this judgment-free space - no skill required!

What’s Included

Choose your own adventure (do either, or both!):

  • Imagination Breaks, Bi-weekly, Tuesdays 12-12:30pm EST (Can't make it? Recordings of the prompts available for 4 weeks in your member library.)
Jumpstart your imagination during these weekly live 30-minute sessions, using only simple materials. A quick, playful prompt will break up the day and get you creating - no prep, no pressure!

  • Art Playtime, Bi-weekly, Thursdays 4-5pm EST(or, watch class recordings in your member library.)
Come explore different art media & techniques in a relaxed way. We'll do things like spending a few weeks focusing on watercolor, then switch to collage and mixed media, then try bookmaking or oil pastels. I'll lead sessions the way I do with my youngest students, through curiosity and playful exploration. I'll demonstrate techniques, but there's no fixed outcome you have to copy. You can experiment along with me using the same materials, or feel free to bring whatever art materials you want and use this as creative coworking time, where we all make art together! Our mantra during these sessions: "I wonder what happens if I try this?"

Additional Components:

  • Class Recording Library
All live Art Playtime sessions are recorded and added to the library after each session, to watch anytime. Your library also includes a complete pre-recorded oil pastel course.

  • Exclusive membership community
Your 24/7 online space to connect with others on the same creative journey! Ask questions, share your work, get feedback, and cheer each other on.

Don't worry about doing it all! This is a creative buffet - pick and choose what fits your life and energy.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING

This is perfect! It’s just the right amount of structure - enough guidance so I feel like I know what I’m doing, but enough freedom so I feel like I can really explore on my own. And there’s no feeling like I might do it wrong or be chastised.
— Emily
A friend suggested that I try your Imagination Breaks for adults. From the very first exercise I was hooked! Making us look at an everyday object or scene and instructing us to look beyond what it was to what it could be was not only fun, but translated into my outlook in my own artistic practice - that freedom to look at things from a completely different perspective and to have fun while doing it.
— Liz

How is The Uncreatives different from other online art memberships?

Other memberships focus heavily on art mastery, with the end goal of frameable art. That can feel pretty intimidating when you're just getting back into the game.

In The Uncreatives, you'll learn art techniques - but through the lens of curiosity and play, not mastery and perfection. As we play, I’ll be teaching fundamentals the way I teach my younger students: experimenting with materials, exploring possibilities, and discovering what happens when you try something new.

There's no "right" way to create here. You learn the skills, then use them YOUR way. This is about creative freedom, not copying the teacher exactly.

Here's how one parent described my approach with their 7-year-old:

"Break out of step-by-step 'copy me exactly' art classes and experience the joy of well-kindled creative freedom."

If all kids were taught this way, they'd never lose touch with their creativity. Let's get that back for YOU.

Why Join and Take Time for Your Creativity?

Because we all need an antidote to adulting!

When's the last time you chose to do something just because it felt good? When you got so absorbed in an activity that you forgot about your to-do list, your worries, your responsibilities - even your phone?

🎨 Here’s a chance to do something for YOU. Not to prove anything to anyone. Not to become the next Picasso. Not to justify your "hobby" to others. To explore, experiment and play without the need to produce a perfect picture - the journey is the destination.

🎨 In The Uncreatives, you can:

  • Connect with your innate creativity. It feels good to remember it’s there - you were born with it!

  • Explore without pressure. No one's grading you, judging you, or expecting perfection - and you don’t have to “master” anything!

  • Unwind and destress. Art-making can feel fun, meditative, or both.

  • Give your mind a break from the ins-and-outs of daily life to let it play and wander. Taking a moment for yourself shifts your mindset for the rest of the day.

  • Think outside the box. Flex your imagination, and watch that innovative thinking spill over into work, parenting, and everyday problem-solving!

  • Connect with other adults who also crave creative expression. You’re not alone - so many others want a supportive space to explore. Be part of a community of adults making room for creativity!

🎨 You deserve creative time. Remember: there's no "right" way to be creative. Join us, and give yourself permission to play!

FAQs

Hi, I’m Stephanie!

…and that picture of me teaching, with paper pea pods from class stuck in my hair, pretty much sums up the joy I find in sharing art with people!

Who am I, and why make stuff with me?

I was inspired to start this membership the first time I heard the parent one of my young students ask: “When are you doing these classes for US!???”

I realized she was right - connecting with creativity is far more effortless for kids. It’s time to give adults a chance to have that same kind of fun!

I find so much joy in my day-to-day - the different colors in a brick wall, finding faces in everything. When you devote time to art and creativity, you NOTICE more and interface differently with the world.

I don’t think this gift is exclusive to “artists” - we can all cultivate a more creative way of looking at the world, and I’d love to be your guide!

I’ve been working with kids and adults as a teaching artist and museum educator for more than 25 years in a variety of settings, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The New York Public LIbrary.
