WHAT IS THIS CLASS?
This fun class is all about creating art inspired by animals - with an emphasis on playfulness and creativity!
We’ll look at different animal photos each week, try different drawing methods and allow ourselves to be as imaginative as want during our drawings - not focusing too much on making a perfect copy, but instead making something animal-inspired, animal-ish - our own version. Is it ok to try to make it more realistic? Sure! And I’ll offer tips and techniques for that as well. But we’re giving ourselves permission to be as different as we want.
I facilitate a supportive atmosphere where students can follow their own ideas freely. I use a document camera on my hands but constantly emphasize that students don’t need to copy me exactly, or at all!

HOW DOES THIS WEBINAR-FORMAT CLASS DIFFER FROM A SMALL-GROUP ZOOM CLASS?
The primary difference is that learners see and hear me, but I cannot see or hear them. However, it’s still interactive in a way a YouTube video is not, because I’m still engaging directly with them via chat!
How can this be interactive if you can’t see or hear them?
Even though I can’t see or hear them, learners communicate with me directly by typing questions or comments into the Q&A/chat panel. I’ll respond verbally in real time.
Can learners engage with other learners in class?
No. Learners cannot communicate with each others.
What’s onscreen?
Me, a close-up of my hands drawing, and the reference photo! Students cannot appear onscreen (which is great for families who prefer greater privacy).
How do learners share their work?
During a webinar, students can’t share their art with me or each other. However, please feel free to post their work to social media and tag me @theartplayspace - I’d love to see what they create!

WHAT ART SUPPLIES DO LEARNERS NEED?
Drawing or construction paper
Drawing/coloring materials: markers, crayons, colored pencils, oil pastels, whatever they’d like to use. I’ll usually be using wax pastels, crayons, and/or colored pencils.

Webinar subscription policy/cancellation:
Monthly subscription: Auto-renews until you cancel
You pay for one month at a time
You control your own subscription and can cancel anytime
No partial refunds: if you cancel partway through a paid month, you will not receive a refund for the remaining classes
If you wish to cancel for the following month, cancel before subscription auto-renews to avoid being charged again
Missed classes: no makeups or credits; recording link provided. Each webinar recording will be available for one week after class date.
